Demonstrations and Classes
The High School Orchestra Tours
We enjoy hosting high
school orchestras in our shop. The orchestras are given
a violin making demonstration from our resident violin maker, a bow making
demonstration from our bow maker and an instrument history and identification
session with Roland Huthmaker. Students get the rare opportunity of seeing
(and holding) ebony, pernambuco, silver and gold in their basic form before they
become a bow. How do you tell the difference between an Italian violin and
a French violin? Gambas, viola d'amore, baroque violas, baroque bows and
picture bows are a few of the unique instruments the students get to experience.
Tours are approximately
one and a half hours and are held in our shop. Please call 770.476.9443 to
schedule your orchestra.
